Coz I was bored

True Blood
Oct. 22nd, 2008 11:27 pmJust when I thought I'd never get addicted to a TV series again, along comes True Blood. At first I was a little dismissive, but then saw that it was based on the Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris. I read these books while I was working at Ottakars and FP thanks to a very kind Time Warner rep who kept me well-stocked in books. I disliked the covers, but enjoyed the stories.
I think it translates well onto TV, and the whole stereotypical Southern Gothic I've always enjoyed is well-done. It smacks a little of Near Dark. I was secretly hoping they'd get rid of Bill's name and give him a slightly more appealing (though Antoine would just be stupid)one. His name always jarred with me in the books. Why not Will? Too...soft? Anyway, he can be my new vampire crush if he continues hanging around with blood on his lips.
I don't think I read beyond the 5th book in the series before my free supply got cut off, and it was a while ago, so I'm going to enjoy watching the series and having nice reminders of the story. So far, it seems pretty true to the first book.
Anyway, I've only watched the first episode. I'm trying to get the second episode to load up right now, but I may have to give up and wait until everyone in China goes to work tomorrow morning. A good download site would be good, but all my old ones have gradually disappeared. Boo!
