Wedding Panic

It's only... 8 weeks until Helen's wedding and I have finally got round to ordering my skirt from Fairy Goth Mother. I was also after a stretch satin shawl to go with it, and to make my older satin corset look a little more elegant. Much to my dismay, whilst it is detachable from the corset shown in the picture it's not available separately. Which puts me in a dilemma. Do I attempt to make one myself (my sewing skills are appalling, despite many attempts in the past), commission someone to make it for me (but who?), or do I just go for something completely different? I rather liked the off the shoulder look, but the only option I can think of is my lace cardigan which isn't really what I was looking for. What to do?

Enough crap,

let me tell you what I've been up to:

This last Saturday I went on my first hen party. I started off in Wimbledon with a few glasses on champagne in a posh flat full of cat statues, then fled down to the tube station, and managed to force open the doors on the train to Hampton Court, where I proceeded to run about the maze (which I finished far too quickly) and then went for red wine in the cafe, and got to know the TOTAL STRANGERS I'd flung myself into the company of. After that we took a cruise along the river to Kingston, where we went line dancing. Despite the purple glittery stetson, I had a whale of a time, and have had sore thighs ever since. I can now grapevine in both directions, scuff my boots on the floor in a cowboy stylee, and firmly place my thumbs in by belt loops (or wherever it is your put them). After that we went to Carluccio's and I had a rather nice dinner, accompanied by lots of red wine and more champagne. It was completed by standing on the rain spattered platform at Ealing Broadway for 45 minutes, listening to some little rockers talking about music... I think.

Apart from a trip to the allotment, and lesson planning, I've been re-reading "The Black Dahlia" in prep. for the film next week, and am enjoying lines such as: " He looked like an inbred Okie shitkicker, with ears bigger than Dumbo's." I'm off to make a hullabaloo and have a parking lot beef with some jailbird hopheads just out of San Quentin... or something.
