Misty Days and No Take Aways
Jan. 9th, 2006 03:23 pmI spent the weekend confined to the house, apart from a brief trip to Sainsburys and a wander round the Boots gym in Greenford. I've got a serious desire to get out and about now. My plan was to write three lesson plans for when the classes start back up but without the pressure there seems to be little inclination to do anything. I came down with the saturday afternoon headache and froze to near death because the boiler was having a fit. In the end I rallied myself after staring at the crows outside and started to tidy the spare room. It took me the rest of the weekend to do it but it looks damn clean now. It's remarkable how much stuff I hoard. I even have a bag full of bubble-wrap for no reason (though it is good to pop).
Watched a couple of good films - Ghost World (which reminds me of myself and Helen when we were young things) and Where The Buffalo Roam. Also finally got to see "Lady Heather's Box" from Season 3 of CSI. One of my favourites now.
No writing, but plenty of thinking about it. I'm currently reading "Shadows Over Baker Street" which is a collection of slash fics - Sherlock Holmes meets HP Lovecraft. I was flicking through last night and started reading Caitlin R Kiernan's story... and had to stop. It's set in Whitby, as is mine. There I was thinking I had something near original. I once sent off a comical (I thought it was funny)rewriting of Bram Stoker's visit to Whitby about three or four years ago. They told me it wasn't original enough. I think that was the last short story I submitted. Shall I read it, or leave it until the current story is finished?
