Tom came over last night and filled us full of a wonderful bottle of wine. He then asked me what my favorite, and least favorite presents were. I guess the least favorite came from my brother (which is a miracle in itself as I've not received anything from him for the past five years at least - I think he's had a lobotomy) which happened to be two sets of shampooey giftsets - one from Boots, and one from the Body Shop. I can however swap the latter for a great big tub of Cocoa Body Butter. Hmmmm. The best? A little more difficult. I got quite a few things - a blender, tonnes of chocolate, a new garden fork, a great big tub of fertilizer and a lovely black bracelet. It was a very good haul overall, and not one thing I'd been expecting (apart from the socks and pants, which are the traditional Xmas staples).

The allotment bonfire went well. As you can probably tell, there was no Wicker Man. We weren't greeted particularly warmly when we got there as no one seemed to know that I'm now on the allotment committee, even though they voted for me. Once that was all established everyone relaxed a bit - helped by the lovely mulled wine going around. Perhaps most odd was the music being played. Someone brought down a portable CD player and attempted to put some Whitney Houston on. However, we were greeted by hip hop, which doesn't really go with pensioners. Nor does the YMCA song but they were dancing away. It all felt quite surreal. I've got some spooky photos of the big old oak tree we were sitting under so I'll have to post them when they're developed.

Have been busy rewriting one of my HPL stories, and even summoned the guts to read it out to Gideon, who was quite constructive about the whole thing. Might go back home and do a bit more. It's a huge story - currently running and 6000 words and it's not finished yet.
