I was not looking forward to having today off work. Normally I like my days to not involve having the family around. Fortunately they all seemed to take the big hint last night of " I want to do some writing tomorrow" and managed to keep quiet until nearly 11.30am. I did nearly three thousand words this morning which is pretty good going for three hours work. Normally I'm lucky to get five hundred out in a day.

Later on I went to Halfords and bought black car mats with blue metal on to match the blue valve caps on my car. My mum copied and got red valve caps ones for her car. Nick accused me of becoming a rude girl, particularly when I said I wanted to get a pink flourescent tube to go underneath my car.

Nick and I watched "House of a 1000 Corpses" on DVD. It has one of the best start menus I've ever come across. Rob Zombie seemed very bored in his interview and kept sniffing and coughing, which was very (un)becoming. The disc had an error on thirty seconds from the end so I've had to get Nick to return it for me and get a new one, which is a little frustrating because I was hoping to torment my mother with it. It's about the only film she remembers vividly because it frightened her pants off at the cinema.

I have no more room for books! Absolutely no more I tell you. I might have to remove my small altar to fit some more in!!! There is a pile nearly two feet high of stuff I'm yet to read, not including the "dip-in" and "still unread" shelf. I've had about ten books given to me this week (three from Mark Billingham who was very nice and who liked my story about people's throat's being slashed in Slough cinema; two from Time Warner; two from Airlift; and a couple of others from Random House.)

Mutterings from my father about "too much weight on the ceiling" persist.

I should review some of these books for my web site really. There's still a couple from last week. To write about. Maybe I should donate some books, but that would be like sending your children away wouldn't it?
