I handed in my notice today. I now have four months to find a place to live and a way to make money. I guess if things get really tight I can always work here:
I was asked if I felt excited about the whole move to a life free of eikaiwa, and the answer was no. I feel sorry for my students and I'm pretty worried about how things will pan out in the future. The upside (should the company remain solvent that long) is that I'm due a bonus in the area of about 150 000yen, though I'm pretty certain ways will be found to remove that from me.
Hmmm. Oddly it's not stressing me out as much as it was a few months ago. Interestingly, on that occasion, the day I chose to hand in my notice was the day one of my co-workers chose to hand in his notice, so it kinda put me off doing it then. Today the same thing happened, except this guy is only giving two weeks' notice. In order to encourage me to do it anyway, he gave me a deadline of 6pm to tell the managers and write my resignation email. They took my quitting a lot better than they did his. So, he owes me beer.
