Caterpillars
Jun. 20th, 2005 09:55 pmTomorrow I have an interview at Kew Gardens for the position of book buyer there. Have been swotting up and asking myself difficult interview questions in an attempt to pre-empt the trisxy questions about why I left my last job.
Today has been the first official day of freedom, well, the third if you count the weekend - which I don't. I lazed about, tidied up the spare room, made lunch and dinner for a weary Gideon and read books on gardening. Gid got back from Canada at midnight. He brought me back maple and pecan popcorn... NOT a Living Dead Doll for the collection... but it is very yummy.
I found the first pumpkin on the patch at the weekend which filled me with lovely thoughts about butternut squash roasted with goats cheese and rocket. However, we found a hoard of little caterpillars nibbling through a cabbage today. Gideon stomped on them. And joy of joys, tomorrow we get to eat our first food off of the allotment - a lettuce.
