Charcater Character Character
May. 17th, 2005 01:10 pmLast week in my writing class I tried to get a discussion going on character development, but as I seem to be far more eloquent when communicating with the written word, the whole attempt seemed to fail miserably. I was trying to explain the difficulty I felt I was having making the two characters in my novel seem distinct from each other. They are very similar in some respects, though obviously in differnt time periods, and of course, one of them is castrated.
Anyhoo, having got talking about it I read through it again and decided that maybe things weren't that bad after all. However, I have decided to take a different approach to the book now. Rather than trying to write it in the format the book will appear, I'm going to write one timestream then the other, which gives me more time to mull on the second stream which is where most of the crazy time jumping stuff happens.
Book to recommend this week: "Last Pentacle of the Sun - Writing in Support of the West Memphis Three". Buy it, read it, tell ten other people about it and make them buy it as part of the money will go towards the defence fund.
