Without Teeth
May. 9th, 2005 01:41 pmHave just received my copy of NINs "With Teeth" but am disappointed to discover that it's the European Edition, not the UK one I thought I ordered. Serves me right for being cheap and not getting the US Dual Disc I really wanted. Might get it now just to cheer myself up.
My class liked the second part of "The Horror in West Cliff". They said I have a very nice writing style and one of them even said he thought I was one of the best writers in the class. Bloody swot, it's just like being back at school, except all I got was groans when I won another award. One thing they did point out was that my archeology professor doesn't sound genuine enough. Though I dropped in some generic archeological words relating to time periods, I think they want mention of trilobytes etc. Hmmm, where can I get that kind of info from? I need to describe soil types and the form of some shoggoths in "archeological langauge".
Went nettle picking yesterday on Horsenden Hill with Gid. Must have looked a bit odd running about the woods with blue rubber gloves and scissors. The nettles are now drying out so we can make tea with them. Nettles have lots of histamine in, which allegedly should help alleviate hay fever symptoms. I also have a recipe for nettle soup and nettle risotto so may give them a go too. I have also bought a copy of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's "Cook on the Wild Side" (signed too) which gives a good bit of info about foraging in hedgerows for free food. He also has a recipe for Oak Leaf wine which sounds deliciously pagan.
