Went to a gig last night and saw one of the most odd scenes ever. Now, I've been going to gigs since I discovered booze and rock n roll, so make that about eleven years. Never have I seen such a strop on stage.

We were at the Twin Zero gig at the Purple Turtle in Camden. The band who were playing when we arrived were... less than mediocre, in fact they were crap, let's be honest. As they came to finishing their set the lead singer piped up:

" This is our last song, but before we play, I'd just like to say that the guitarist in Twin Zero is really nice for letting us use his guitar tuner. The other one is total wanker. He sucks big cock. He's the most pretentious person I've ever met, he's a wanker..." and so it went on. Amusingly, they didn't get to play the last song, as they were told the set was over.

Now kids, it turns out that "the other guitarist" wouldn't let this band use his amp (I don't remember the particulars), as thier's had blown up. It seems at little childish, and risky, to me to have such an outburst on stage, especially when half the audience have come to see the band you're slagging off, and even more if you suck. Strops do you no favours with an audience which is blase about bands.

On one hand the amp could have been lent, but having now seen Twin Zero I can see why they don't want to risk having their equipment messed about with by other bands. They were excellent. The sound was fantastic - so well balanced that I could make out every instrument through my earplugs (a rare thing when most sound becomes a drone with bad mixing). They're prog metal I would say - heavy and melodic and very very tight. I was very impressed.

In other news, I missed the dates for the NIN shows in March and thus have no tickets. NIN are on the "things to do before I die" list. Can't quite afford the £300 they're going for on Ebay either. Shit. My fault for not keeping up with the rock press I guess. I'm just not hip anymore...
