Whitbread Book Awards
Jan. 11th, 2005 12:09 pmHi All,
As it's getting for awards season I thought I'd post you all the Whitbread category winners.
The first novel award was won by Susan Fletcher who was up against the fiercesome competition of "Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell". I'm pointing this out as we used to work together on the York Uni arts mag a long time ago and I'm very happy for her success.
I always used to be a bit sniffy about award-winning books, they often didn't live up tot hype, but I must say that "Eve Green" is an wonderfully poetic work and thoroughly deserves the attention it's getting.
Has anyone read any of the other category winners? Any speculations as to a winner?
