Well, I have to say that I don't yet know what to make of the new job. The people I work with are all very nice, but I still have a susipcious gut-feeling about the whole thing. I've only been there three days so it'll take a bit of time to settle in and stop feeling so overwhlemed by all these new computer systems I have to use.
I met Gideon on Friday after work and we went to the Tate Modern (which is where I went to have lunch on Friday by myself. Me and a packet of twiglets watching the world go by on the Embankment). We've both reconfirmed that very little modern "art" does anything for us. Dali and Rothko were good, as were the kinetic and optic art pieces, but other than that i couldn't get excited about any of it. Next time I'm taking him the the other Tate where I can sit and stare at "April Love" and "The Lady of Shalot".
I've been asked to do the SF quarterly round-up for Publishing News. It's quite a big job and involves having publishing info for up to March next year. I did it because it'll be a great crash course into the upcoming SF year, and it pays quite well. I already have a few books in mind so I'm hoping the job won't be too stressful. I have six weeks to write it. All those long train journeys should give me plenty of time to swot.
