Well, the Ottakar's era comes to a close at the end of this month. I resigned yesterday having been offered another job. As of the 28th June I will be "Group Book and DVD Buyer" for The Forbidden Planet chain.
I'm glad to be leaving retail (at least the customer based bit) and glad to be leaving the Windsor store which has possibly been one of the most infuriating, miserable and frustrating periods of my working life. The only thing I will miss will be the Intranet bits I do, which I always have enjoyed doing, and brought in money for my writing (makes me feel more of a writer anyway).
Am a little apprehensive about the new job as it will initially involve a LOT of travelling from Slough or Windsor to Southwark. I keep having dreams about it, the most recent about being charged £900 for a month's season ticket on the train. I'm sure that's not too far from the truth actually. I woke up the next morning and said outloud: " I can't afford that!" I expect to ahve developed my customary stress-related nervous twitches by the end of the month!
In other news, Helen won £2000 at bingo yesterday. I need to play bingo.
