Seaside Fun!
May. 9th, 2004 09:03 pmSo Helen, Gideon and I went to Brighton for the day. I forgot my prescription so I couldn't get my new funky glasses (doh!). We wandered about town and amazingly I managed NOT to buy anything. Had chips and then went on the ghost train on the pier. Lazed on the beach. It was all good fun.
Got home to spy a small fire in the distance. When it became big balck clouds I rang the fire brigade who confirmed that it was my old first school going up in flames. It closed last Easter when the two village schools merged and there have been various planning applications for it. The building was at least 150 years old and I'm quite upset that someone has set it alight. The sound of it burning came across the fields and sounded like a load of fireworks going off. The flames have died down now but there's still smoke rising.
Now have to get some work done. I've been doing a bit more writing recently which is cheering me up so I might type up what I've written (or is that just a means of procrastination?).
