Golden Week and Beyond
Ahhh, today is my last day at work for two weeks.
Next week is Golden Week and my mum and brother are coming over for a jaunt around Tokyo. I'm taking them to see Mt Fuji (and have a ride on a PIRATE SHIP!), Nagano and Kyoto, before heading off by myself to Osaka, Nara and Koyasan, a mountain-top Buddhist temple city where I get to eat proper vegetarian food and meditate with the monks. How cool is it to say "I have booked my temple"? On the way back I will most likely be stopping in Nagoya and Ise to see my former student Shizuko, who has promised beautiful temples and tasty food.
I plan to do a lot of stuff, and also a lot of nothing. Involved in the nothing will be sitting around reading, and perhaps doing a bit of re-writing. I have a story I want to send off to a magazine but I have to get rid of 400 words. Not sure where they're going to be cut from. Unfortunately it could mean another rewrite, which I feel rather unamused about. So not a lot of nothing then.
In other news, I finished watching "Life on Mars" on Wednesday night and will confess to shedding a small tear as I have become rather attached to that series. Still, I have the latest episode of "Heroes" to watch tonight (as a treat for finishing my packing).
So, I will be absent from this place for a while. I will leave you with some o-hanami pictures for you to coo over.
Err, cherry blossom.
O-hanami people.
Kombu!!!
Kasuga Park
Me hiding in the cherry blossom.
Me and Mai, who has gone to university in Canada. Yes, those are bubbles round the edge, and yes, I am wearing a suit.
